Quebec's MTQ launches application developed with REP++studio

The ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) launched today its first application developed with REP++studio™. The MTQ chose REP++studio, Consyst’s ARAD* productivity tool, to develop applications built on the Microsoft® .NET Framework. This high visibility application for MTQ is at the core of a survey program studying the origin-destination traveling habits of tens of thousands of citizens in each of the large cities. This program, headed by the Ministère, was conducted by means of phone interviews. REP++studio generated substantial productivity gains in the development and maintenance of the application, enabling application managers to easily and dynamically manage and maintain the bilingual forms that are now stored in the repository of REP++.

Consyst is proud to include the ministère des Transports du Québec among its new clients.

* ARAD: Architected Rapid Application Development.

Consyst launches its new ASP.NET framework

Consyst announces the launch of its new framework for Microsoft ASP.NET, versions 1.1 and 2.0. Pursuing its strategy of complementing J2EE and .NET technologies, Consyst completed the development of its new framework for ASP.NET. The framework not only offers all the advantages of ASP.NET in terms of functionality and controls, but it also introduces new functions, some of which automate a large portion of the repetitive tasks of developers. Along with its ARAD/MDA® tool REP++studio, this new framework automates the following:

  • The generation of complete ASP.NET native forms in Visual Studio.
  • The management and integrity of transactions as well as the access to data (DBMSs, Web Services, XML, etc.) whatever the complexity of relations (multiple relations, 1 to n to m relations, etc.)
  • The processing, exchange and validation of data (selection, creation, modification, deletion, etc.)
  • The display of data (label, validation, type of control, size, input/output masks, default value, etc.)
  • The optimization of data exchange between client and server through methods of caching and exception management.
  • The standardization of the presentation layer using customizable templates and toolbars.
  • The management of multilingual applications.
  • The management of errors.
  • And many more.

Additionally, the framework contains several reusable components that clearly reduce the coding effort while unifying the behaviour of applications (listview, treeview, filters, transaction logs, secured login, etc.)

Using this new framework will reduce significantly the programming, integration and testing efforts, increase components reuse, decrease considerably the required maintenance and reinforce the standards put forward in organizations.

Consyst’s ASP.NET framework is currently in beta version and will be available in its final release in the next few weeks.

According to Gartner, ARAD tools showed productivity gains from 2 to 15 times!

A new category of tools, ARAD (Architected Rapid Application Development) tools, have shown a remarkable increase in ROI and productivity, according to a recent study from Gartner.

"In comparison to traditional application development tools, Gartner's survey found ROI improvements ranging from 2 to 1 to greater than15 to 1. Furthermore, Gartner also calculated that only with the ARAD approach to rapid application development (in comparison to other RAD approaches) was there a first-year break-even on ROI.", says S.M. Kerner, internetnews, about Gartner's survey.

Consyst launches REP++studio 7.0!

Consyst is very proud to announce the latest version of its productivity solution, REP++studioTM 7.0. Version 7.0 includes the third version of the Windows and Web frameworks, several new generic components often used in applications such as listviews, treeviews, filters and automatic logs, as well as brand-new repository editors. In addition, REP++studio takes charge of the templates for Web applications by centralizing in the repository so they can be viewed and automatically associated to the elements and properties of the repository. Lastly, users can now extend the repository itself to integrate their own metadata.

As in the previous version, a seamless integration ensures the full use of Microsoft's new .NET platform and of J2EE development platforms (IBM, BEA, Oracle, Sun, etc.) REP++ also supports all the latest versions of Microsoft Visual Studio (6.0, 2002, 2003 et 2005), Windows Server 2003, XP and 2000 operating systems, as well as most DBMSs, including SQL Server and Oracle.

Using REP++studio with the .NET and J2EE development platforms more than ever contributes to a significant decrease of the coding efforts, an increase in components reuse, an important reduction in maintenance and an enforcement of the standards of your organization.

REP++studio 7.0, currently in beta release, will be available in its final version in September 2004.
